“Free people, remember this maxim: we may acquire liberty, but it is never recovered if it is once lost.” – Jean-Jacques Rousseau
These are dark days for the people of Manchester. It’s dark and alarming for all of us. Monday night, Ariana Grande’s concert held at the huge Manchester Arena turned into a hell-like scenery due to a suicide bombing. Our prayers go to the families of the 22 people killed and we hope the best for the injured and the missing. By this time, suspects involved in this savage act have already been detained.
“We have been treating this as a terrorist incident,” – Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Ian Hopkins
“This a terrorist attack deliberately targeted at children having the time of their lives. It was cowardly, it was deliberate, it is beyond wicked.” – Tim Farron, the Liberal Democrat leader
Many celebrities posted messages of sadness and regret. Furthermore, president Trump called the attackers “evil losers”, as if “monsters” doesn’t sound degrading enough.
“…kids and adults alike all crying, screaming, some still running away … adults in cars who were due to be picking up kids screaming trying to find them.” – one of the survivors told the press
Toying With Our Lives
This was not the first major attack in Britain, as similar events occurred in a subway, in 2005, ending in even more casualties. Sadly, it’s likely to happen again.
On the other hand, some say this was a political play, preceding the general election scheduled to take place on 8th of June 2017. The candidates Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn have suspended their campaigns.
Then again, those rumours may be dismissed by the reactions of ISIS fans which have been celebrating the attack online. Also, one of them recorded himself staying “‘This is only the beginning”. No shock there.. but what did shock were two particular tweets from before the concert.
“This is the just terror” one user tweeted at 6:35PM

Who do we blame? Maybe ISIS’s grip on the world is that tight. Maybe there are ulterior motives behind our leaders’ lack of action. Are we just numbers to them which they would so easily sacrifice if the situation suited them?
An Attack on Freedom
This attack did not just affect the people who attended Ariana Grande’s concert, but the whole concept of liberty. It filled our hearts with, even more, prejudice. But remember, everyone is worthy of respect until proven otherwise.
Many questions need answers right now, and we must fight for our right to get those answers. Most importantly, we must stay united and take back our freedom. It must be demanded. The sun will rise again.
May the following list of songs and their lyrics inspire you to promote peace, under the symbol of liberty, unity and love.
