Stargate currently encloses the members Mikkel Storleer Eriksen and Tor Erik Hermansen. Until the beginning of the 21st century, Hallgeir Rustan was also part of the team.
The production and songwriting team was formed in 1997 in Norway. One of their first successful singers was Noora Noor. They produced her first album Curious. Stargate expanded more and more through the European market. After producing hits like Blue, Mis-Teeq and Atomic Kitten, Mikkel and Tor moved to America. Hallgeir remained in Norway.
Together with Ne-Yo, Stargate collaborated with Rihanna for A Girl Like Me and with Beyonce for her single “Irreplaceable”. Lionel Richie also benefited from Stargate’s work with the hit “I Call It Love”.
The duo was named No. 1 hot producer on the 2006 Billboard Year End Chart, received a Norwegian Grammy and they got the title Songwriters of the Year at the 2007 ASCAP/PRS.
Their contribution to the music world was not to be underestimated. Stargate helped with singles like “Beautiful Liar”, “Black and Yellow”, “Rude Boy”, “Letting go” and with the whole Ne-Yo album Year of the Gentleman. Following up, Coldplay’s album A Head Full of Dreams was co-produced by them with Rik Simpson.
In 2017 the duo issued the debut single “Waterfall”, featuring P!nk and Sia.
