Sigrid is a Norwegian pop singer and songwriter who rose to fame in 2017 thanks to the hit single Don’t Kill My Vibe.
Sigrid Solbakk Raabe was born in Ålesund, Norway on 5 September 1996. Raised by a musical family, she became interested in it as much as her other two siblings. Trained early on to be a performer, Sigrid was taught piano, guitar, and dance.
Following a small part in her brother’s band, Sigrid decided to launch her own solo career. At just 16 years old she released the single Sun, followed by Two Fish and Known You Forever. She performed her singles at European Festivals and captured her audience with her looks, performance and songwriting skills. Getting more and more attention, labels saw the potential of a pop-star and was major record deals. Sigrid accepted the Island Records’ proposal and was signed.
The singer did not disappoint and her first track under Island became her biggest song yet. Produced and co-written by Ella Henderson and Sam Smith, Don’t Kill My Vibe was released in early 2017. It began receiving radio play on the notorious BBC Radio 1, becoming the station’s Hottest Record in the World. The song also charted internationally in places like Norway, Australia, Scotland, and the United Kingdom. An EP of the same name was released and Plot Twist was revealed as the second single in on April 21, 2017.
