Run the Jewels Biography
Run the Jewels is an American hip hop duo created by rappers El-P and Killer Mike.
Early Formation
The group was initially formed as a side project when El-P produced Killer Mike’s 2012 album, R.A.P. Music. Soon after, Killer Mike was on El-P’s Tougher Colder Killer track from his album Cancer 4 Cure. As a result of their respective solo projects, they supported their albums together on a tour. Following its success, they decided to form Run the Jewels.
Career
Under the representation of Fool’s Gold Records, Run the Jewels revealed their self-titled debut album in 2013. The following year, they released the sophomore LP Run The Jewels 2 this time under Mass Appeal Records. It was very well received by critics and by fans. In 2015, the duo accompanied White Stripes’ Jack White at Madison Square Garden. The next months, Run the Jewels performed at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April and at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival amongst many others. Run the Jewels 3 was finally revealed on Christmas Eve in 2016 as a digital free download.
