Nickelback Biography

Nickelback is a Canadian rock/post-grunge band formed in 1995. They sold over 50 million albums and were listed as the as the eleventh best-selling music act. Billboard named them the most successful rock group of the decade. They rose to stardom in 2001 with the single How You Remind Me. They are currently working on their 9th album, Feed the Machine, due for June 2017.

Formation & Breakthrough

The iconic rock band was initially formed by Chad Kroger (vocalist), as a cover band. They used to play Metallica and Led Zeppelin, until they found money to record their debut EP, Hesher. Moreover, the band released 2 albums, before creating the breakthrough single How You Remind Me. The single was released in 2001 to critical acclaim. It topped several charts and received four Grammy nominations. The follow-up album, Silver Side Up, consequently sold over 10 million copies.

Continuous Success

In 2003, the group released their fourth album, The Long Road. It reached number 6 on the Billboard 200 and spawned another successful single, Someday, which peaked at number 7 on the Hot 100 chart. However, the song generated a small controversy, due to its resemblance to the breakthrough hit. Moreover, in 2005, Nickelback released another multiplatinum album, All the Right Reasons. The record generated 5 charted songs, notably Photograph and Rockstar. The album proved to be Nickelback’s best to date, having sold over 11 million copies.

In 2008, the band’s next album, titled Dark Horse, came out. It marked a continuation in the success spree but didn’t even begin to match the results of its predecessor. It did, however, generate a massively popular single, Burn It to the Ground. In 2011, Nickelback released Here and Now, to a similar reaction. Most noteworthy, the album included the single When We Stand Together, which went Platinum. The rock band’s latest album, No Fixed Address, came as a shock due to its change in style.
