Kaya Jones Biography

Kaya Jones is a Canadian-American pop singer, model, and actress who was part of the all-girl group, the Pussycat Dolls.

Early Life

Chrystal Neria was born in Toronto, Ontario on August 28, 1984. At only 13 years old she was discovered by  R&B giant R. Kelly. She was immediately signed to his label and prodcution company, Rockland Records.

The Pussycat Dolls

Capitol Records signed Kaya, at age 16 after which she auditioned and was accepted as part of the emerging group, the Pussycat Dolls. With music producer Jimmy Iovine at the helm, Nicole Scherzinger and Melody Thornton were added to the original line-up of Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta and Kimberly Wyatt. In 2004, the group performed Big Spender at the  MTV Asia Awards. The same year the group released the soundtrack We Went as Far as We Felt Like Going for the animated movie Shark Tale. Before leaving the group in 2005, Kaya recorded the Sway soundtrack for the movie Shall We Dance?.

Solo Career

After her departure, Kaya chose to release music as a solo artist. In 2012, she released her debut album as Kaya. She released the singles Hollywood Doll and Take It Off . Confessions of a Hollywood Doll and Kaya became minor dance hits. She was a back-up singer for acts like Mick Jagger on his song Old Habits Die Hard. Hollywood Doll was the brand of her new bussines ambition. The brand manufactures dolls, fashion and beauty products for young girls. Kaya released her sophmiore album in 2015 as The Chrystal Neria Album. The same year she was featured with the Romanian duo TWO on their single Angel.
