Justin Bieber was born in 1994 in London, Ontario, Canada and was raised by a single mother. Bieber was discovered by a talent manager through his Youtube videos of his own cover songs by artists such as Usher, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake and Stevie Wonder.

Childhood

Justin Bieber was born on March 1, 1994, in London, Ontario and was raised in Stratford, Ontario. Bieber is the only child of Jeremy Jack Bieber and Patricia “Pattie” Mallette. Pattie raised her son as a single mother and worked a series of low-paying jobs. Growing up, Bieber learned to play the guitar, piano, drums and trumpet.

Youtube Sensation

At the age of 12, Bieber entered a local singing competition in Stratford. His performance of Ne-Yo’s “So Sick” placed him second in the competition. Justin and his mom began uploading videos of Bieber singing covers of various R&B songs. Within months, Justin was already an Internet sensation, building a large base of fans on Youtube. He was discovered by Scooter Braun, who arranged for the teenager to fly to Atlanta. There, Justin met Usher, who eventually signed the young singer to a record deal.

Debut Album

Bieber’s first single, “One Time” was released in May 2009. Shortly after, the song was certified Platinum in his native Canada. Released on November 17, 2009, his debut EP, “My World” sold more than 137,000 copies in just one week. Bieber soon became the first artist to have seven songs from a debut record chart on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2010, Justin released his first full-length studio album, “My World 2.0”. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard album chart. Its lead single, “Baby” reached the top five of Billboard’s singles chart.
