Disclosure Biography

Disclosure is a British electronic music duo, formed of Howard and Guy Lawrence in 2010. Their very first album, Settle, received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronica Album in 2014. One year later, they released another album, Caracal, which was nominated at the Grammy Awards as well. They are best known for the worldwide hit Help Me Lose My Mind. Moreso, they collaborated with major names like The Weekend or Lorde.

The brothers were born to musician parents and have studied music since high-school. While Howard was into funk and soul, Guy listened to both classic and hip-hop music. In 2010, the young artists began to make music, which they labeled ”electronic house music with a pop structure” and upload it to MySpace. Producers discovered them actually quick and offered a record deal. Additionally, they toured the UK mixing at various gigs. In the summer of 2010, they released their first single Offline Dexterity. Consequently, they signed with Method Management.

In 2012, Disclosure released a first significant single, Tenderly / Flow which paved the way for the popular EP The Face. One track, the remix of Running by Jessie Ware reached top charts in the Netherlands and Belgium. In the UK, their first hit was Latch, released during the same period. After a couple of years, the young duo released their debut album, Settle

Two very successful hits resulted from that album – White Noise (feat. AlunaGeorge) and You & Me (feat. Eliza Doolittle). Both singles topped the UK charts. Help Me Lose My Mind was released as the album’s fifth single. It’s their most broadcasted single to date. Moreover, the album jumped straight to the top of the UK Albums Chart and received recognition from all Europe. It was awarded 4 stars by The Guardian and a 9.1 score by Pitchfork.

In 2013, they performed at high-profile festivals such as Coachella or Lollapalooza. After that, the duo started working on their second album, Caracal. They collaborated with important artists such as Sam Smith, Lorde (Magnets), The Weeknd. The album jumped straight to the top of the UK Albums Chart. The official music videos intertwine and follow the same plot: a woman runs from the police, for unknown reasons, in a futuristic dystopia. In 2017, the iconic duo announced they will be taking some time off, apart from attending the WildLife festival.
