Christopher Alvin Stapleton is an American country music singer and songwriter. After a fulfilling writing career, Chris has released his own album, the Grammy-awarded Traveller (2015), which topped the country charts, gained awards and massive praise. Moreover, he is working on a second album, From a Room: Volume 1, due for May 2017.
Early Life and Career
Chris was born in Lexington, Kentucky, in 1978. He grew up in a family of coal miners, studied engineering and, in 2007, he joined a bluegrass group, The Steeldrivers. In 2010, after the group split up, he formed the southern rock band called The Jompson Brothers, with whom he released an eponymous album. As a songwriter, he collaborated with numerous major artists such as Carrie Underwood, Adele, Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw, and others.
Breakthrough & Success
In 2013, Chris Stapleton signed with Mercury Nashville and released his debut single, What Are You Listening To?. The song went by mostly unnoticed, however, the group managed to step into the spotlight two years later. The band’s first album, Traveller, was a huge success and reached many top albums of 2015 lists. Additionally, it spawned three gold-certified singles, the title track, Nobody to Blame and Parachute. In 2016, Chris did some collaborative work and performed at Country to Country festival in Europe. Furthermore, he premiered, Either Way. the first single from his upcoming album, at the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville.
