By News

Another summer, another vacation planning induced headache. In the end, maybe you’ll just water your lawn, stay on the couch and drink beer, hang out with your friends, use all the saved money for a trip and then catch some fallen leaves with your tired hands, because autumn already came.

Yep, summer it’s quite short. Don’t despair, this boredom can be easily countered with a road trip maybe and some music from your favorite artists. The solution is right under your nose. You can spice up this made up comedic routine with a music festival. More exactly, with the Firefly Music Festival. 2017 will be a tremendous year just for the sake of this gem of a festival.

So Many Artists That You Can’t Count To Awesome

Red Frog Events is a team that harnessed experience since 2007 with events like Great Urban Race and Warrior Dash. In 2012 they challenged themselves with the organisation of a musical festival. The Firefly lineup that year was headlined by the guitar legend Jack White along with his prestigious band, the alternative rock titans, The Killers and the indie-blues iconic duo The Black Keys. They shared the 3 days music experience with artists like Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse, Heartless Bastards and Cold War Kids. The exotic electronic music craftsman Bassnectar together with the hip-hop artisan Lupe Fiasco brought diversity to the first edition of the Firefly Music Festival.

Jumping from edition to edition, the Delaware music event evolved with elegance and professionality. The Firefly Music Festival 2017 edition welcomes artists like Thirty Seconds To Mars, Franz Ferdinand, Glass Animals, Banks and Snakehips. The wide range of genres can be observed only when you’ll look at the top artists. The Weeknd, Muse, Twenty One Pilots, Chance The Rapper and Bob Dylan will headline the firefly lineup this year. It’s a mixed bag of sweet flavoured tunes.

The Weeknd brings the love ballads and the dark, mysterious R&B hits. The songs Muse created throughout the years will always be on everybody’s lips. Twenty One Pilots are the young, fresh attraction with ground shaking lyrics and a fan base so big, it’s almost directly proportional to their talent and dedication. The Grammy winner artist Chance the Rapper will charm the public with the critically acclaimed hits from his Mixtape Coloring Book and not only. Bob Dylan, the blues legend and the rock pioneer it’s the biggest and most valuable cherry on the top of a music festival cake.

The Twists That Give Uniqueness

Firefly Music Festival gives their community the opportunity to donate and raise money for charity. Working with the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital since their early years, the organisers set up a charity system for the festival. If you fundraise for St. Jude, Firefly is sure to reward you in various ways. Amounts like $100 and $300 will get you decals, together with Music Gives shirts and hats. Starting from the sum of $750, the package contains an artist meet and greet. More than 1000$ fundraised mean Free Passes to the festival.

This heartful initiative goes even further. Firefly encourages you to book your hotel through Hotels For Hope because they will donate $2 for every booking. If you buy Firefly Music Festival tickets collectively with items like hats and flags, 25% of the price will be received by St. Jude. Also, the tips you’ll leave at the festival’s Merchandise Store will be donated.

The Woodlands of Dover International Speedway is the firefly music festival location, the place where the magic resides, where the grass is green and the girls are… you know, prettier, especially in the June 15-18 period. Besides giving a hand in battling dreadful diseases, the festival also battles with carbon dioxide emissions and pollution. When the attendees buy their tickets, they can donate to a carbon footprint offsetting program. The intriguing part is that this program manages to cancel out the carbon emissions, making Firefly a carbon neutral festival.

A noble and noteworthy action, the offsetting of carbon dioxide is a trademark for the East Coast festival. Throughout the festival, you’ll see refill stations for water and you can buy reusable water bottles. You’re encouraged to participate in a waste diversion program that successfully reduces the trash from the festival’s finale.

Firefly’s Heartwarming Attractions

While yawning in the morning, it’s possible that you’ll start missing your favourite, local coffee shop. You’ll experience the insatiable need for your street corner shop that sells the godly energy-giver drink. Say no more. Firefly’s got you covered. Stubhub brings The Coffee House, a stage where you can enjoy some lattes and cappuccinos in a cosy environment, while your favourite indie band is playing a few steps away from you.

The Nook is where you’ll hang out your hammock and take a nap between concerts, only after you’ve enjoyed the goodies from The Market or The Fort. Don’t forget to sip a beer or two from The Brewery, a place that sells the festival’s own drink, the Firefly Ale. If a fairytale had a baby with Tomorrowland, that would be The Thicket. Set in the woods, there’s a tent where all you can find are joyful vibes, quality DJs and a loving public.
