In This Moment Biography

In This Moment is an American metalcore band from LA, California, led by singer Maria Brink. They formed in 2005 and released 5 studio albums, reaching top 10 in the US with 2014’s “Black Widow”. They are currently working on a sixth album, “Ritual” due for July 2017, through Atlantic Records.

Early Years 

The group formed in 2005, when Maria Brink met guitarist Chris Howorth. The who began writing songs and, by mid-2005, they completed the lineup, including drummer Jeff Fabb, guitarist Blake Bunzel, and bassist Josh Newell. They caught the eye of  Rob “Blasko” Nicholson, through their MySpace account. In This Moment’s fan base grew quickly, due to marketing and touring. They signed with Century Media Records

Beautiful Tragedy & The Dream & A Star-Crossed Wasteland

In 2007, the band released its debut album, “Beautiful Tragedy”, a mix of metalcore and hard rock, with themes of abandonment and tragedies. It spawned two notable singles, the title track and “Prayers”, peaking at number 35 on the Independent Albums chart. Furthermore, they performed on numerous tours, such as The Hottest Chicks in Metal Tour 2007. One year later, In This Moment managed to reach the Billboard 200, with their second album, “The Dream”. “Inside dreams anything can happen, all the things that seem impossible or unreachable in the ‘real world’ become a reality in your dreams,” explained the band. Notably, the album included Maria’s cover of “Call Me” by Blondie. In 2010, “A Star-Crossed Wasteland” came out, presenting a darker, heavier vibe and generating one of the band’s most acclaimed singles, “The Promise”.

Blood & Black Widow

In the summer of 2012, In This Moment released their next album “Blood”, premiered by the gold-certified single with the same name, which reached top 10 on the Active Rock chart. Moreover, the album peaked at top 20 in the US and spawned two more successful singles, “Adrenalize” and “Whore”. This album is less metalcore and more experimental, with electronic elements. Furthermore, it adds a more raw and sexualized image of the lead singer. A couple of years later, In This Moment came out with “Sick Like Me” promoting their fifth album, “Black Widow”, their first one with Atlanic Records. The single topped the US Sales chart. The album reached number 8 in the US. Its next singles, “Big Bad Wolf” and “Sex Metal Barbie” also created hype, reaching top 30 on the Mainstream Rock chart.
