Whitney Houston Biography
Born Whitney Elizabeth Houston on 9 August 1963, she was raised in a family that already had musical icons in the gospel, soul and pop scenes.
Early Career
She did a photoshoot for the Seventeen magazine at 15 and, when Whitney was 19, she signed her first deal, with Arista Records.
The debut album Whitney Houston enclosed singles like “Hold Me”, “Thinking About You”, “You Give Good Love” and “All at Once”. The album’s tunes topped the charts and one of the singles, “Saving All My Love for You”, won her a Grammy.
Becoming a Legend
The next album, simply entitled Whitney, contained the single “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” that was critically acclaimed.
She started playing in movies and at the same time releasing songs for them. She acted in The Bodyguard and won three Grammy Awards for the soundtrack she provided the movie with.
Whitney issued the album My Love Is Your Love in 1998 and then collaborated with Mariah Carey for the single “When you Believe”, that was featured in the animation The Prince Of Egypt.
The End Was Coming
After starring in her husband’s reality show Being Bobby Brown, struggling with drug and health problems, she won the world record for the most awarded female artist of all time. In that period she tried reaching the heights of the musical charts with the album Just Whitney, but it just didn’t work.
Whitney Houston started pulling herself together and released a new album, I Look To You (2009). In 2012, on February 11, she died by accidental drowning.
