Ty Dolla Sign Biography

Born Tyrone William Griffin Jr. on 13 April 1985, Dolla Sign learned to play numerous instruments at an early age.

Early Career

Ty Dolla Sign raised to fame with his collaboration with YG. Ty wrote and produced the song “Toot It and Boot It” with the rapper. After releasing his first singles “All Star” and ” My Cabana”, Dolla Sign co-founded a production team. Titled D.R.U.G.S., artists like Chordz 3D, Fuego and Dj Mustard are being part of it.

Freshly signed to Atlantic Records, the rapper issued the mixtapes Beach House (2002) and Beach House 2 (2013). The Beach House EP (2014) was led by the singles “Paranoid” and “Or Nah”.

First Album & Success

Ty wanted to build up the appearance of his debut album, so he released the mixtapes Sign Language and Airplane Mode before. After the moderate success of the mixtapes, the album was a blast. Free TC (2015) debuted at number 14 on the Billboard 200.

In 2016 he worked with famous artists for iconic hits. “Work from Home” was issued together with Fifth Harmony, winning him a Best Collaboration Award. Next up for Ty was the single “Sucker for Pain” for the movie Suicide Squad. The song was the put-together work of Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Imagine Dragons, Logic, X Ambassadors and Ty Dolla Sign.
