Early Years
The xx started as a duo formed by Oliver Sm and Romy Madley Croft. They got their guitarist, Baria Qureshi in 2005 and the next year Jamie Smith joined.
Their debut album, recorded in a garage, “xx” (2009) was critically acclaimed and spawn them in the worldwide music scene. The xx started producing themselves, Jamie and Rodaidh helping with the mixing. Guitarist Baria Qureshi was kicked out of the band in the same year.
The Iconic Trio
“Angels” was the lead single for their next album, Coexist. They were featured in the movie “The Great Gatsby” with the song “Together”. While working with the band, Jamie also started his own career by the name Jamie xx.
On January 13, 2017, The xx issued their third studio album, “I See You”. Its singles, “On Hold” and “Say Something Loving”, helped the album get the number one spot in the United Kingdom.
