T-Pain Biography

Faheem Rashad Najm, known professionally as T-Pain, is an American rapper, singer-songwriter, and record producer from Florida. He debuted on the rap scene in 2005 with the album “Rappa Ternt Sanga“. Apart from his gold-certified albums, T-Pain is also appreciated for his numerous collaborations on massive hits.

Early Life & Breakthrough

T-Pain was born in 1985, in Tallahassee, Florida. His stage name comes from “Tallahassee Pain”, due to the struggles he faced while living there. He grew up in a Muslim household but didn’t show any interest in religion. Instead, he became interested in music when he was only three, after visiting a family friend’s recording studio. Furthermore, T-Pain transformed his bedroom into a studio, with a keyboard, a beat machine and a recorder. In 2004, he covered a single from Akon, who subsequently signed him to his label. Shortly, T-Pain released his gold-certified debut album, peaking at number 33 on the Billboard 200. Additionally, it spawned 2 platinum, top 10 singles, I’m Sprung and I’m N Luv (Wit a Stripper).

Epiphany” & Recent Years

In 2007, the rapper released his second and most successful album, Epiphany. The record topped the albums chart and spawned 3 acclaimed singles. The lead one, Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin’) topped the Hot 100 chart and went 3x Platinum. The next two, Bartender and Church also gained massive popularity, the latter being included in the soundtrack of Step Up 2: The Streets. During that period, T-Pain made many guest appearances on international hits, such as Flor Rida’s Low and Kanye West’s Grammy-awarded single Good Life.

Thr33 Ringz, the artists’ third album, came out in late 2008. It reached top 5 on the Billboard 200 and earned a gold certification. Moreover, it enclosed collaborations with Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Chris Brown and numerous other important artists. Furthermore, he collaborated with Taylor Swift on a parody of her Love Story, performed at the CMT Music Awards. In 20011, he released Revolver, his fourth studio album. Notably, it spawned the top 10 single 5 O’Clock, featuring Wiz Khalifa and Lily Allen. He is currently working on a fifth album, Stoicville, preceded by the single Dan Bilzerian, featuring Lil Yachty.
