Syd Biography

Born Sydney Bennett on 23 April 1992, Syd grew up in a heavily music-influenced medium. She started making music at an early age. After high school, she went to the Hamilton Music Academy.

Beginning

Syd first joined the hip-hop group Odd Future. The band would record songs at the home made studio Bennett built. While on this group, she also released an instrumental EP called Raunchboots (2011). In 2011 Syd together with OF member Matt Martians founded the band Internet. The Grammy-nominated group met with considerable success. She left Tyler, The Creator’s group Odd Future in 2016.

Next Projects

She left Tyler, The Creator’s group Odd Future in 2016. Syd launched her solo career in 2017 with the single “All About Me.” She teased her next album one more time with the single “Body.”

Fin was released on 3 February 2017. It was critically acclaimed, receiving an overall rating of 83/100 on Metacritic. Fin spawned the singles “All About Me” and “Body.” The music video for the former song contains appearances from Tyler, The Creator, Hodgy Beats and Mike G. Two of the album’s tracks feature Steve Lacy and respectively 6LACK.
