Stormzy Biography

Stormzy is an independent English grimie and hip-hop artist.

Early Life

Michael Omari or Stormzy was born on July 26, 1993, in Thornton Heath, London. At 11 years old he began rapping at his local youth club.

Professional Debut

He garnered some underground notoriety before releasing his independent debut EP “Dreamers Disease” in 2014. During the same year, he received an award at the MOBO Awards for “Best Grimie Act”. The freestyle single “Shut Up” entered the top 40 UK chart and was the first ever freestyle to reach that position in the UK. Stormzy launched a Christmas campaign to get his single on spot 1. He received support and managed to get the song in top 10 of UK’s Singles Chart. Before getting a career-break, he revealed the single “Scary” in 2016. After one year and no social media activity, Stormzy returned in early 2017 and released the album “Gang Signs & Prayer”.
