Shania Twain Biography

Shania Twain, is a Canadian singer and songwriter, with over 85 million records sold. She is the highest-selling country music female artist of all time and, therefore nicknamed Queen of Country Pop. Her third album, Come On Over, became the best-selling album by a female act. It generated the worldwide hits You’re Still the One, Man! I Feel Like a Woman! and That Don’t Impress Me Much. Over the course of her career, Shania won numerous awards, including five Grammy Awards.

Early Years & Come On Over

Shania Twain began singing when she was very young, in order to escape from the toxic atmosphere of her home. She then started performing at clubs just to make ends meet. After taking singing lessons, she began pursuing a professional music career. She moved to Nashville and producer her first, self-titled album, in 1993. It didn’t gain success but it led to a collaboration with important producer Robert John “Mutt” Lange.

Together, they worked on Shania’s next album, The Woman in Me (1995) which made a huge impact in country music. Two years later, the artist released her iconic album, Come On Over,  a mix of country and pop. It topped several album charts, including the Billboard Country (for 50 weeks) and peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200. Furthermore, it went double diamond in the US.

Up! & Recent Years

Following up on that colossal success, Shania released her next album, Up!, to critical acclaim. The record gained a diamond certification and spawned successful singles such as I’m Gonna Getcha Good! and Ka-Ching!. Furthermore, in 2004 the country star released a greatest hits compilation. After a rough period of issues regarding her marriage and health, Shania stepped back intro the spotlight. In 2011 she starred in her own tv series and published a memoir. In 2015, Shania announced a final tour and an upcoming album.
