Early Life

“My Dad was a DJ, my mom obsessed with every type of music possible”, Selena declared for Rolling Stone.

Selena Gomez was born on July 22, 1992, in Grand Prairie, Texas. She started acting at an early age. In 2001 she began performing in the children’s show Barney & Friends. The next step in her career were just small roles, including a guest appearance in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody in 2006. The following year she was cast as the lead role in the Disney series Wizards of Waverly Place.

Becoming a Star

After recording tunes for movie soundtracks, Selena issued her debut album Kiss and Tell in 2009. Selena’s singles like “Come & Get It” and “The Heart Wants What It Wants” were critically acclaimed. Her first solo compilation album, For You (2014) had modest success. 2015 is the year when Selena’s tune “Good for You” saw the light of day together with the album Revival. She also recorded vocals for the animation movie Hotel Transylvania 2 and she became a mentor in Season 9 of The Voice for Gwen Stefani’s team.

Achievements

Selena Gomez has won numerous awards, from American Music Awards to MTV Video Music Awards to Guinness World Records. She appeared in movies like Spring Breakers (2013) featuring famous James Franco, Unity, The Big Short, and Getaway.
