Rotimi Biography
Olurotimi Akinosho is known nowadays by his stage name, Rotimi. An exemplary scholar, he graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor’s degree in Communications.
Breakthrough
A year later after graduating, Rotimi released digitally two mixtapes. The Resume (8 March 2011) and While You Wait (30 November 2011) put Akinosho into the spotlight. He opened for artists like Jennifer Hudson and NERD. Also, he signed with G-Unit Records, 50 Cent’s label. Rotimi issued his first single with 50 Cent titled “Lotto” in 2015. It charted on the 86th place on the US Singles chart.
While raising his fandom in the music scene, Rotimi also acts. He debuted on the TV series Boss. Next for him were movies Imperial Dreams and Divergent. He’s also part of the Power’s cast, a TV series produced by 50 Cent. Rotimi, 50 Cent and T.I. were ready to take the charts by assault with their new single called “Nobody”, released on 13 April 2017.
Personal View
When asked by True Star what motivated him to start singing, Rotimi declared: “My mom, I grew up listening to Bob Marley because of my dad. I started singing at 6 years old and once my mother found out that I knew how to sing she put me in the choir and began enrolling me in vocal sessions.”
