Romeo Santos contributed tremendously to the latino scene in a short spawn of time.
Romeo Santos Biography
Born Anthony Santos on 21 July 1981, Romeo grew up in The Bronx, New York. He founded the band Los Tinellers with a cousin and three friends.
Early Years
By the end of the 1990s, Los Tinellers would change their name to Aventura. Struggling to bring bachata music in the spotlight, they only achieved this in 2004. The single “Obsesion” charted in numerous countries. Until their breakup in 2011, they released five studio albums. They reunited after that for a handful of times, their final concert taking place in February 2016.
Solo Career
Romeo went on to pursue a solo career. His debut solo album Formula, Vol. 1 peaked at number one on both Billboard US Top Latin Albums and Tropical Albums charts. Singles like “You” and “Promise” also topped the charts. One year later, he would play three nights in a row at Madison Square Garden with all tickets sold. Next for Santos was another successful concert, this time at Yankee Stadium in 2014.
He collaborated with famous artists like Drake and Nicki Minaj for his second album. Formula, Vol. 2 issued in February 2014. Like the former album, it topped the Latin Albums and Tropical Albums charts. It also became the best-selling Latin album of 2014. After the two Formula albums, Romeo issued the single “Heroe Favorito” in 2017. It will be part of his next album Golden.
