Robin Thicke Biography

Robin Charles Thicke is an American R&B singer, songwriter, and producer. He gained stardom in 2013, with the release of his massively successful Blurred Lines. Additionally, he worked with numerous important artists like Christina Aguilera, Nicki Minaj, Pharrell Williams, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Flo Rida, Kid Cudi and Mary J. Blige.

Early Career & Success

The charismatic Robin Thicke had an early grasp of success. However, he did work for many years as a mildly successful songwriter. Additionally, he released an album in 2003, titled A Beautiful World. Even though it didn’t sell well, the album attracted admiration from critics and artists, even leading to future collaborations. Three years later, he released The Evolution of Robin Thicke, which had instant success. The clever mix of inspirations and genres created a huge hype. Consequently, it received Platinum. Furthermore, the artist then had two consecutive gold albums, Something Else (2008) and Sex Therapy: The Session (2009),

Blurred Lines and After

In the spring of 2013, Robin Thicke released the international hit Blurred Lines, featuring T.I. and Pharrell. The catchy song, with a catchy video, accumulated over 1 million views in only a few days. Moreso, he released an album with the same title and explained his vision to the Breakfast Club: “We all think we’re living either in a black or white world, or on a straight path, but most of us are living right in between those straight lines.” While the lead song topped the Billboard Hot 100, the rest of the album did not receive much attention. Probably, it was because all the media was busy discussing the controversial music video.

Another scandal spawned shortly, due to the performance of Give It 2 U, with 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar, at the MTV VMAs. Thicke was accused of sexism and racism, making that gala the became the most tweeted about event in history.
