Prince Royce, born Geoffrey Royce Rojas, is an American latino musician. He made his commercial debut in 2010, with the release of an eponymous album. The album included two widely successful singles Stand By Me and Corazón Sin Cara. Both songs topped the Billboard Tropical Songs. The album ranked number 1 on the US Billboard Latin Albums and Tropical Albums. Furthermore, the young singer won 3 Billboard Latin Music Awards. His second and third album, Phase II & Soy el Mismo, equaled the success of its predecessor. Additionally, each gained a Latin Grammy Awards nomination. His latest album, Double Vision, is his first primarily in English album. Two of the singles, Stuck on a Feeling featuring Snoop Dogg and Back It Up featuring Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull reached the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Career Beginnings & Eponymous Album
As a child, Royce was part of the school choir and wrote poetry, which eventually turned into lyrics. He began his career at the age of sixteen and gradually settled on bachata music. Through the course of the next 3 years, he met with various producers.
Finally, in 2010, the 19-year-old Royce released his debut album, under the label Top Stop Music. The album, titled Prince Royce, brought him massive recognition and peaked on several latino music charts. Moreover, it was certified 2x Platinum. In 2011 the singer won several awards. Royce then collaborated with Daddy Yankee on the song Ven Conmigo, thus further expanding his fame. Near the end of the year, he toured with Enrique Iglesias.
Phase II & Soy el Mismo
In 2012, Royce released his second album through Atlantic Records. The bilingual album appeared as a mix of music styles, from bachata to mariachi. The single Las Cosas Pequeñas topped the Billboard Latin Songs chart. Furthermore, he was featured on People en Español‘s Sexiest Men Alive. The high-selling album received a Grammy nomination. After that, he released a greatest hits compilation, titled #1’s, which also made a very positive impact.
The latino singer’s third album Soy el Mismo was produced by Sony Music Entertainment in 2013. The lead single, Darte un Beso jumped to the top of numerous Latin charts and received a 3x Platinum certification. Additionally, it won the Streaming Song of the Year Billboard award. The album itself got the fourteenth place on the Billboard 200 chart. Also in 2013 Royce was honored with the BMI Latin Songwriter of the Year.
Double Vision & Five
Royce released his first truly internationally renowned hit, Stuck on a Feeling, a collaboration with Snoop Dogg, in 2014. It turned out to be his best single in the US so far. Another important achievement was contributing to the soundtrack of the blockbuster movie Furious 7. During that period, he also joined Ariana Grande on her The Honeymoon Tour. In 2015, he released his fourth album, Double Vision, to critical acclaim. The single Back It Up, featuring Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull, made its way into the US Latin Pop Songs chart and the Billboard Hot 100. It also made Royce an eight-time Latin Grammy-nominated performer.
In 2015, Royce released the single Culpa al Corazón to promote his latest album – Five. The music video features his current girlfriend Emeraude Toubia. The album was eventually released in 2017. It is a mix of bachata, R&B, and pop and features many important artists. Moreso, Five peaked at the top of Billboard‘s Top Latin Albums. The most popular track features the iconic Shakira and is titled Deja Vu.
