Post Malone Biography

Austin Richard Post, known by the stage name Post Malone, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter and producer. He first gained stardom in 2015, due to his debut single White Iverson. The song reached the US Top 40 chart. Malone wrote it during a time when he “couldn’t afford to buy a pack of cigarettes”. In 2016 the rapper released his first studio album, Stoney.

Beginning & Breakthrough

As a child, Malone enjoyed sports, especially basketball and playing Guitar Hero. He was drawn to music by his father, who taught him about various genres. At 16 he made his first mixtape. After college, he moved to LA and met FKi and Rex Kudo, who produced several songs for him. The iconic White Iverson came soon, receiving critical acclaim. Supposedly, the song is a reference to professional basketball player Allen Iverson. Following the success of his first single, he released more on his SoundCloud profile, all of which experienced hype.

Fame & Wealth

In 2015, the rapper signed with Republic Records. It was a huge opportunity for him and he fully exploited it. He worked with consecrated rappers like 50 Cent, Young Thug, and Kanye West. Additionally, he developed a friendship with Justin Bieber. Therefore, he later joined Bieber on his Purpose World Tour.

In 2016 he released Go Flex, which reached numerous charts and marked his national television debut – Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Furthermore, Deja Vu, a collaboration with Bieber, expanded his fanbase. He was considered of the cover of XXL’s 2106 Freshmen Class but eventually did not get it, as his music wasn’t purely hip-hop, according to the publication. In response, the young artist released a “HIP HOP mixtape” promoting his debut studio album. The mixtape, titled August 26th, wast meant to indicate the release date of the album. However, the album Stoney came out at the end of 2016. It was a massive success and sold over 60K copies, more than any other fairly new artist in 2016. From this album, the promotional and fifth single, Congratulationsfeaturing Quavo, is the most relevant. It accumulated over 25 million Spotify streams. Post Malone’s next project it titled Beerbongs and Bentleys.
