Papa Roach Biography

Papa Roach is an American alternative and hard rock band, formed in 1993, in California. They rose to fame in 2000 with the best-selling album Infest, which spawned their most representative single, Last Resort. The band’s ninth album, Crooked Teeth, is due for May 2017.

Early Years & Breakthrough

During their formation years, Papa Roach was heavily influenced by punk and rap. In early to mid-90s, they released 4 EP and their debut album Old Friends from Young Years, which only gained local popularity. However, it led to more noteworthy gigs and a contract with Dreamworks. Therefore, in 2000, the band made its commercial debut with Infest. The lead single, Last Resort, topped the US Alternative Songs chart and became one of the most acclaimed songs of its time. Furthermore, the album went 3x platinum and Papa Roach gained worldwide fame.

Fame & Success

In 2002, the band released Lovehatetragedy, another major success. It came with a more mature and melodic sound. However, Papa Roach stuck to their love for rap and joined Eminem’s Anger Management Tour, during the summer of the same year. Two years later, their next album Getting Away with Murder came out. The record received a platinum certification and spawned another praised single, Scars. In 2008, Papa Roach released The Paramour Sessions and joined Mötley Crüe’s Crüe Fest. One year later, their following up Metamorphosis reached top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart. Additionally, the band generated two top 20 albums, The Connection (2012) and F.E.A.R. (2015).
