Odesza Biography

Odesza is an American Seatle-based electronic music duo consisting of Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight.

Early Formation

The two met while attending Western Washington University and began making music as a duo on their senior year, in 2012. Knight was studying physics and math but knew how to play piano and guitar. Mills studied graphic design.

Career Beginnings

The same year, Odesza did not waste any time and released their debut album Summer’s Gone.They made their performance debut by opening for Teen Daze and Beat Connection. The duo was able to garner 1 million hits on their SoundCloud account. Odesza released the first EP in 2014, entitled My Friends Never Die.

Rising Success

Mills and Knight supported their projects with a tour. By 2014, they went from 1 million hits to 30 million hits on SoundCloud in one year. In Return was their second LP, issued under Counter Records. The album was supported by a sold-out US tour with 28 dates. The next period was busy with numerous performances at a variety of festivals like Sasquatch! Music Festival, Coachella, SXSW, and Lollapalooza among many others. Next, Odesza launched an outlet called Foreign Family Collective. The ambition was to help emerging artists get exposure by releasing singles. In 205, the duo launched a mobile app for iOS and Android. The following year they revealed a music video for the track It’s Only featured by Zyra, as a result of the latest successful tour.
