Nicky Jam Biography

Nicky Jam, born Nick Rivera Caminero, is a reggaeton singer and songwriter. His most popular songs are El Perdón and Hasta el Amanecer. He collaborated with major artists such as Daddy Yankee, Enrique Iglesias, and Hector & Tito.

Early Life 

Nicky Jam grew up in a poor family and had to illegally word in a grocery story. He used to sing reggaeton while doing his job and, one day, a music executive noticed him. Consequently, a fourteen years old Nicky released his first album …Distinto A Los Demás. The album didn’t bring him much income, but it did bring him recognition.

Los Cangris

After a few years, the young singer met Daddy Yankee. Around the year 2000, they became friends and started working together, as the unofficial duo Los Cangris. They released several commercially successful singles like Sabanas Blancas, Guayando, and Sentirte. Nicky Jam was featured on Daddy Yankee’s 2001 compilation El Cartel II: Los Cangris. However, in 2004 they parted ways due to personal issues. Later, in 2012, they reconnected and recorded El Party Me Llama from Daddy Yankee’Prestige.

Solo Career

After his experience with …Distinto A Los Demás and Los Cangris, Nicky released a total of 6 more albums. In the late 2000s, he moved to Colombia. He released a series of very successful singles, most notably Voy A Beber. Additionally, the singer was featured on numerous reggaeton albums. He currently holds the record for most appearances on various albums. In 2015 he won a Latin Grammy Award for Best Urban Performance. Furthermore, he released Hasta el Amanecer,  which got very good reviews from Billboard. They called the song a “sultry, sexy reggaetón track” that contains Nicky’s “trademark catchy melodic hooks”. Nicky Jam’s latest album, Fenix, offers plenty of catchy love songs, including the popular Si Tú La Ves
