New Found Glory Biography

New Found Glory is a Florida-based rock band who emerged on the rock scene in 1997 and soon became, according to critics, “pioneers” of the pop-punk genre.

Early Formation

The band was formed in 1997 by vocalist Jordan Pundik, bassist Ian Grushka, drummer Joe Moreno, guitarists Chad Gilbert and guitarist Steve Klein. They began by touring extensively and released the debut EP It’s All About the Girls under Fiddler Records.

Career Beginnings

The debut LP was released in 1999 as Nothing Gold Can Stay this time under Drive-Thru Records and re-released under MCA Records the next year. The second EP From the Screen to Your Stereo paved the way for the self-titled album, which was certified gold. New Found Glory was invited as the opening act for blink-182 and an appearance in the teen movie, American Pie 2  helped raised their profile.

Success

Sticks and Stones was released in 2002 and the single My Friends Over You helped the group get another gold certification. They supported the album with the 2002 Warped Tour, followed by a more hardcore LP, called Catalyst. It was number 3 on Billboard 200 and earned a gold certification.This Disaster: Live in London, a live DVD was revealed and showcased the New Found Glory’s strength. Coming Home was issued in 2006 received to good reviews for its maturity and songwriting. From the Screen to Your Stereo Part II was next in 2007 and Not Without a Fight in 2009. They returned to the pop-punk sound with Radiosurgery. After the issue of the live album Kill It Live guitarist Klein left after some legal allegations. The band decided to stay as a quartet and released the LP Resurrection. In 2017, New Found Glory celebrated their 20 year anniversary with the arrival of the latest project called Makes Me Sick and a tour.
