MØ Biography

Karen Marie Aagaard Ørsted Andersen, known by her stage name MØ, is an electropop singer and songwriter from Denmark. The word mø means “maiden”She is best known for her collaboration with Major Lazer on the worldwide hit song Lean On. MØ’s music has been described as “electro music with guts”.

Career Beginnings

In 2006, MØ released a project titled The Edmunds. It contained songs like Garbage King and Polly Get Your Gun. During the following years, she released more compositions such as A Piece of Music to F*ck to and The Rarities. Actually, some of her songs were banned for unknown reasons. In 2007, the singer united with a friend, Josefine Struckmann Pedersen, thus forming the due MOR. Together, they released two EPs, Fisse I Dit Fjæs (“Pussy in Your Face“) and Vanvidstimer (“Madness Hours“). MOR disbanded in 2012.

Debut Album – Present

In 2013, MØ released her debut single Glass. Furthermore, she released Pilgrim, which dominated the Danish charts. During that period, the danish singer also collaborated with Avicii on the song Dear Boy. Her debut studio, No Mythologies to Follow, was released in the spring of 2014 to generally positive reviews. She began touring and made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Furthermore, she won four Danish Music awards. Her exposure grew even more after her collaboration with female rapper Iggy Azalea, on the song Beg for It. Moreover, she was featured on Major Lazer‘s worldwide phenomenon Lean On. She is currently working on her next album. Consequently, she released a first single, Kamikaze. In 2016 she released another single titled Final Song. She also appears on Major Lazer‘s 2016 single Cold Water.
