Early Life
Michael Len Williams II was born on March 23, 1989, in Marietta, Georgia as the youngest brother of two sisters. His mother was a gospel singer in church and his uncle was a guitarist. By age 14, although into sports, he began making his own sounds and beats. Williams dropped out from college to focus on music production.
Career Beginnings
In 2006 he founded his own production company called Ear Drummers Records. Mike began working with Gucci Mane on numerous projects, followed by several other Southern acts collaborations like Future, 2 Chainz, and Waka Flocka Flame.
Breakthrough as a Producer
Will got his first break with Meek Mill and Rick Ross’ hit single Tupac Back. His work was expanded in 2012 with top rap hits like Kanye West’s Mercy and 2 Chainz’s No Lie. The same year, Mike produced platinum hits like We Can’t Stop by Miley Cyrus and for Rihanna and Lil Wayne. Next, he focused mostly on the new duo Rae Sremmurd and worked on their debut release SremmLife. The LP was number 5 on the Billboard’s 200 chart and received a platinum certification. His reputation was further solidified with high-profile collaborations with Formation by Beyoncé and Black Barbies by Nicki Minaj.
Debut as a Rapper
In 2014 he released some material of his own in the shape of the mixtape Ransom. The sequel was revealed as a 2017 full-length album called Ransom 2.
