Michelle Branch is an American singer, songwriter and actress. She gained stardom in the early 2000s as a solo artist and then, in 2005, as part of The Wreckers.

Michelle Jacquet DeSevren Branch is an American singer, songwriter and actress. She was most successful in the early 2000s, due to the release of her high-selling album, The Spirit Room and Hotel Paper. In 2002, she collaborated with Santana for the Grammy-awarded single, The Game of Love. For a couple more years she was part of a country music duo, The Wreckers. Currently, Michelle is preparing her upcoming album, Hopeless Romantic (2017).
Early life and Career
Michelle Branch was born in Arizona. Ever since she was little, she was passionate about signing. Michelle took voice lessons and, moreover, received her first guitar when she was 14. During that period, she composed her first song, Fallen. With the support of her family, the artist played several gigs and released an independent album, Broken Bracelet. The title was inspired by an actual bracelet Michelle received from Steve Poltz. The musician told her that “when it breaks, you’ll be famous.”
The Spirit Room and Hotel Paper
In 2001, Michelle signed with Maverick Records and released her debut studio album, The Spirit Room. The first single, Everywhere, received critical acclaim and won the Viewer’s Choice Award at the MTV VMAs. Additionally, the album spawned two more commercially successful singles, All You Wanted and Goodbye to You. Eventually, The Spirit Room received a Double Platinum certification. Two years later, Hotel Paper came out, debuting at number 2 on the Billboard 200. The lead single, Are You Happy Now brought Michelle a Grammy Nomination. Furthermore, the artist also picked up acting, making appearances in various TV shows.
The Wreckers
In 2005, Michelle Branch united with Jessica Harp, under the country music duo The Wreckers, formerly known as The Cass County Homewreckers. They released one album, Stand Still, Look Pretty, which generated the hit single, Leave the Pieces. Additionally, the collaborated with Santana, for the song I’m Feeling You, which got featured on tv drama One Tree Hill.
