Sari Abboud, known by his stage name Massari, is an R&B and pop singer. He was born in Beirut but lived most of his life in Montreal. His music is a mix of Middle Eastern and western influences. He released two albums, Massari (2005) and Forever Massari (2009).
Early Life & Career
Sari moved to Montreal, Quebec when he was only 11 years old. At 13, he moved to Ottawa, Ontario to attend high school. In 2001, he started his music career and chose his stage name, which means money in Lebanese Arabic. Consequently, in 2002 he released his debut album Spitfire, which gained local success.
Breakthrough
In 2005, after years of developing his skills, Massari released his debut album. It spawned 4 successful singles and gained a Gold certification. Most noteworthy, Be Easy and Real Love reached top 10 on the Canadian singles chart but were also popular internationally. In 2009, he released his second album, Forever Massari, which generated 2 more charted songs, Bad Girl and Body Body. However, the album didn’t impress as much as his predecessor. In 2012’s Canada Day, the young singer released Brand New Day, which gained recognition in Europe. It was announced as the first single from his next album. One year later, he released the second single, Shisha, a collaboration with French Montana.
