McBriare Samuel Lanyon “Mac” DeMarco is a Canadian singer, songwriter, instrumentalist and producer. He described his peculiar style as “jizz jazz“. He released four studio albums. Notably, Salad Days peaked at number 30 in the US.
Early Life & Career
DeMarco was born in Duncan, British Columbia in 1990. He grew up in Edmonton, Alberta and has played in several bands during school. In 2009, after moving to Vancouver, he independently released his debut album Heat Wave. Moreover, he worked on psychedelic video projects for a while. In 2011 he moved to Montreal to pursue music professionally. At first, he did uncommon jobs in order to sustain himself.
Breakthrough & Success
In 2012, he caught the interest of Captured Tracks with his LP Rock and Roll Night Club. Therefore, later that year De Marco came out with his first full-length album, 2. The record received very good reviews. Two years later, he released his third album, Salad Days, which gained, even more, success and dominated the US charts. Furthermore, Mac DeMarco made his TV breakthrough on Conan, in 2015. Later that year, he released an instrumental album, called Some Other Ones. In early 2017, the artist released two singles, My Old Man and the title track preceding his latest album, This Old Dog.
