M.O Biography

M.O is a British R&B trio, consisting of members Annie Ashcroft, Frankee Connolly and Nadine Samuels. The band was formed in 2012 under independent label Operator Records. In 2016 they moved to Polydor Records and, in present days are signed to Interscope Records. Several of their singles have reached the UK top charts.

Career Beginnings

All 3 members have been part of girl bands before gathering and creating M.O. Their name comes from the latin Modus Operandi, translated as “a particular way to do something”. The trio’s inspiration comes from 90s old school music, thus artists like J.Lo, Aaliyah, All Saints. They made their debut on Youtube by remixing Brandy and Monica‘s The Boy Is Mine. They received good feedback by important musical personalities like Ed Sheeran. 

Breakthrough

M.O’s released their first official single in 2014. For a Minute reached number 6 on the UK Indie Charts. Later that year, the group released a garage-influenced second single Dance on My Own, which entered the UK Sales Chart. Additionally, they were nominated for the Best Newcomer at the MOBO Awards. A year later they released the single Preach, with major local success. In 2016, the girls released the EPs Good Friends and Who Do You Think Of?. The later reached top 20 on the UK Singles Chart. Their latest single is Not in Love represents yet another entry on the UK charts.
