Louisa Johnson Biography
Louisa Johnson is a British singer and songwriter from Essex. She won the 2015’s X Factor when she was only seventeen. She is known for her appearance on Clean Bandit’s single Tears. Her debut album is due for 2017.
Early Life & X Factor
Louisa Johnson was born in 1998, in Essex. After her parents divorced, she grew up with her mother in Thurrock. She entered the twelfth season of The X Factor with The Jackson 5’s Who’s Lovin’ You. She was mentored by Rita Ora. During the competition, she performed numerous hard songs, such as Aretha Franklin’s Respect and Bob Dylan’s Forever Young. She gained attention from the media even before winning. Therefore, after the end of the show, she immediately entered the music industry.
Commercial Debut
Louisa released her official cover of Forever Young on radio shows and TV programmes. The single reached number 10 in the UK, which marked a record among X Factor winners. She was planning on releasing her debut album in early 2016 but changed her mind. ” People are going to know me through that album – so it needs to be perfect” she justified the delay. However, in the spring of 2016, she released another single, Ruin It with a Kiss. More noteworthy, she collaborated with Clean Bandit on their hit Tears. The song peaked at number 5 in the UK and gained international popularity. In October of the same year, the lead single from the upcoming album, So Good, came out and reached number 13.
