Lindsey Stirling is an American violinist, performance artist, and composer who first became known as a contestant on America’s Got Talent.

Early Life

Lindsey Stirling was born on September 21, 1986, in Santa Ana, California but grew up in Arizona. She was raised in a humble home with financial difficulties. Her parents managed to get her violin lessons nonetheless and she would win several awards in highschool.

Career Beginnings

Lindsey participated as a hip-hop violinist on America’s Got Talent, Season 5. Her performance at the audition was unique as she danced and played the violin at the same time. She finished the show in the quarterfinals. Next, she began focusing on her YouTube channel and posting videos. Joined by director and cinematographer Devin Graham, Stirling filmed beautiful music videos, such as Crystallize. The effort garnered 100 million views.

Success

Lindsey released her debut album through her own label called Lindseystomp. The self-titled LP was a commercial success in the US, Austria, and Switzerland. The record was certified gold in Germany. Encouraged by the success she toured the album nationally and internationally. Stirling was signed to the management company Atom Factory and re-released her debut LP. After a few collaborative EPs, she released the full album Shatter Me in 2014. The record debuted at number 2 on the US charts. She embarked on a major tour in America, Europe, and Oceania that lasted approximately 2 years.

Present

In 2015, Stirling issued an autobiography called The Only Pirate at the Party followed by a new album in 2016, called Brave Enough. The production was partially funded by fans and debuted at number 1 on the US Dance/Electronic Albums. It featured guests like rapper Lecrae and singer Christina Perri.
