Lil Dicky Biography

David Andrew Burd, known by his stage name Lil Dicky or LD, is an American hip-hop artist and comedian. He rose to fame with his 2013 song Ex-Boyfriend and its viral music video. He is known and beloved for his funny exposure of ordinary life experiences and events. “I think a lot of rap is just escalated to a place that many people can’t relate to… My niche is that I’m relatable” he declared.

Early Life & Career

Burd was born in 1988, in a township on the north border of Philadelphia. He studied at the E. Claiborne Robins School of Business. After graduation, he moved to San Francisco and worked as an accountant for an advertising agency. Furthermore, his creativity and talent for transforming basic thing in funny rap songs gained him a place in the creative department.

Musical Breakthrough 

Initially, Burd wanted a career in television, he wanted to write comedy movies, shows and even act. He began rapping just to create exposure for himself, but he ended up loving it. In 2013 he released his debut mixtape, So Hard, and the viral music video for Ex-Boyfriend. Notably, the video gained 1 million views in one day. Moreover, he released a series of clips called Hump Days.

In order to continue making music, the rapper started a Kickstarter and raised 113.000 dollars. In 2015, Lil Dicky released his first full-length album, Professional Rapper. It featured many collaborations with consecrated artists. Most noteworthy, the title single, featuring Snoop Dogg, has almost 50 million views on Youtube.  Overall, the album received immense acclaim. It topped the Rap, Comedy and Independent Albums charts and peaked at number 7 on the Billboard 200. In April 2017, Burd released an extremely expensive music video for Pillow Talking.
