Laura Welsh is a British indie pop singer. During the late 2000s, she was part of her group Laura & the Tears. She released her first studio album, Soft Control, in 2015.
Musical Beginnings and Style
Welsh embarked on her music career as the lead singer of the band Laura & the Tears. They released one EP together, titled Long Live On, in 2009. The eponymous single was quite popular and helped spread Laura Welsh’s talent. She immediately stood out due to her powerful voice, capable of switching pitches easily. Moreover, she proved to be good as expressing emotion, no matter the context.
Solo Career (2014-Present)
In 2014 she performed as an opening act for Ellie Goulding. Additionally, she was featured on Gorgon City’s Here for You. The single peaked at number 23 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Also in 2014, Laura’s single Undiscovered was included into the Fifty Shades of Grey Soundtrack. In 2015, the artist released her debut album, Soft Control. The intriguing and versatile composition features high-profile producers and songwriters such as Emile Haynie, Dev Hynes, and John Legend. Furthermore, the album spawned several popular songs, such as Ghost, Break The Fall and Hardest Part, which highlighted Laura’s effortlessly strong vocals. In 2016, the indie singer released a second EP, titled See Red.
