Kyla Reid is a British house & UK funky music singer. Her most popular song is Do You Mind, which charted very well in the UK. It turned out to be a milestone in the UK house subgenre. In 2016 she appeared on Drake’s massive hit One Dance.

Career

Kyla began her music career in 2008, through her collaboration with Crazy Cousinz. The funky song Do you Mind conquered the UK Top singles. However, immediately after that, she took a long break from music. She married and gave birth to a boy.

In 2016, Drake sampled her catchy song in his afrobeat and dancehall hit One Dance, surprising the whole world, including Kyla. Actually, when called by Drake’s manager, the UK funky artist thought it was an April Fool’s joke. This gave the singer a major opportunity to reboot her career. Consequently, Kyla performed at numerous music festivals, including the Wireless Festival. A few months later she was featured on Naughty Boy‘s single Should’ve Been Me, thus reaching the charts again, after 8 years. Moreover, she confirmed a collaboration with Major Lazer for his upcoming album. Kyle stated during an interview that her next songs will be less funky and more R&B.
