Krewella Biography

Krewella is an American electronic female duo consisting of sisters Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf. They made their debut in 2007, but released their first EP, “Play Hard”, in 2012. Their music encloses electro house, dubstep and EDM.

Early Years 

The two singers, Jahan and Jasmine met with producer Kris “Rain Man” Trindl at Glenbrook North High. The members got identical tattoos, which say “6-8-10”, marking the day the decided to pursue a music career, leaving school and other work possibilities. In 2011 they signed with Monstercat and released their first song, “Killin’ It”. One year later, Krewella released their debut EP “Play Hart”, topping the Dance Radio Airplay chart. Furthermore, they began headlining EDM festivals.

Breakthrough & Success

In 2013, Krewella released their debut album, “Get Wet“, reaching the top 10 of the Billboard 200 and receiving critical acclaim. Next up, they released the single “Live For The Night”, a collaboration with Cash Cash. However, Trindl left the band in 2014 and sued them, claiming he was “unfairly thrown out”. In response, the sisters released the single “Sau Goodbye”. In 2015, another single came out, titled “Somewhere to Run” and the “Troll mix Vol. 14 – Return of the Trolls”. In 2016, two singles were released, “Beggars” and “Broken Records”, preceding the EP “Ammunition”. Later that year, another they released another acclaimed single, “Team”. Most recently, Krewella formed its own record label, Mixed Kids Records, and released the single “Be There”, in May 2017.
