James Bay is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist that is best known for his hit “Hold Back the River”.
Early Career
James Michael Bay, born on 4 September 1990, became fascinated with the guitar at the age of 11 and when he was 16, he decided he wanted to play in pubs.
Bay first signed to the label Republic Records and issued his first EP, The Dark of the Morning, in 2013. The second EP, Let It Go, achieved great success on iTunes.
Debut Full-Lenght Album and Collaborations
“Music came along and then we fell in love, but art was way before that“, he said. Bay also is keen on drawing and painting.
The real breakthrough for the young musician came in the form of the single “Hold Back The River” from the album Chaos and the Calm (2015). The single climbed the charts and reached number two in the UK. Other tunes issued by the British singer are “Let It Go”, “Move Together”, and “Running”.
James toured with Hozier, performed the famous hit “Love Yourself” with Justin Bieber and collaborated with Kygo for the song “Raging”.
