Early Life
Joshua Ryan “Jake” Owen was born in Winter Haven, Florida on August 28, 1981. Originally working as a professional golfer, due to an accident he was forced to quit the sport. While recovering, he taught himself how to play guitar. Jake started to play random gigs after which he moved to Nashville and focused on starting a music career.
Career Beginnings
After meeting producer Jimmy Ritchey a friendship was made. The two began writing songs for other artists. Thanks to his friend Ritchey, Owen got a record deal with Sony/BMG Nashville. His album already made, he immediately released the debut LP Startin’ with Me under RCA Records. The ballad with the same name was number 6, spending more than 35 weeks on Billboard’s Country chart. In 2008 the Don’t Think I Can’t Love You lead single was released from the upcoming Easy Does It LP. The lead single reached number 2 in 2010.
Success
Barefoot Blue Jean Night, the 3rd album was released in 2011. The title track and the second single Alone with You became number 1 hits. The following year he issued an EP Endless Summer and in 2013 he issued the LP Days of Gold. Beachin’ was the only hit as it reached number 1 on Billboard and earned a platinum certification. Next, American Love was revealed in 2016 with the 2 single releases Real Life and American Country Love Song.
