Ivy Queen Biography

Born Martha Ivelisse Pesante Rodriguez on 4 March 1972, Ivy Queen grew up in New York. She debuted in the music world after moving to San Juan.

Early Years

Ivy’s first musical project was a reggaeton group called The Noise. With the help of DJ Negro, she starting pursuing a solo career. The debut album En Mi Imperio (1997) didn’t reach commercial success, neither the second one The Original Rude Girl (1998). She was dropped by her label record and took a break from music. Queen came back with a bang and started spawning hits for reggaeton compilation albums.

She released the album Diva in 2003. It encloses the single Quiero Bailar and was rated 5/5 stars by Raggaetonline. She maintained her fame with the next albums until 2006, when Cosa Nostra failed to impress.

Further Career

Queen issued Sentimiento in 2007, which contained the single “Que Lloren.” Three years later she gave the world the album Drama Queen, that debuted at the 3rd spot on the Top Latin Albums chart.

Until 2012 she kept away from media and publicity, coming back with Musa. It enclosed singles like “Peligro De Extincion” and “Cupido”. Ivy’s next album titled Vendetta saw the light of day in the studio album form in 2015. It went straight to number 30 on the Billboard Latin Albums chart.
