Hilary Erhard Duff is an American singer and actress. She became famous as a Disney star in the early 2000s. The teen idol starred in numerous comedy or romantic comedy movies. She made her musical breakthrough in 2003, with the successful Metamorphosis and, in 2015 she released her fifth album, Breathe In. Breathe Out.
Acting Career
Hilary Duff made her mainstream breakthrough in 2001, after landing the lead role in the series Lizzie McGuire. Following up on the Disney-related success, in 2002 Hillary starred in the children’s comedy movies Cadet Kelly and Agent Cody Banks. In 2003, she returned as Lizzie McGuire in the movie version of the popular series. Furthermore, she had a role in the comedy Cheaper by the Dozen, which became her highest-grossing film.
In 2004, she landed a lead role in the romantic teen comedy, A Cinderella Story. Later that year, she starred in the musical drama Raise Your Voice. Though popular at their time, the last two movies received actually bad reviews. Things only went downwards with the 2006 movie Material Girls. One of her more recent and notable roles was Olivia from the iconic tv-series Gossip Girl, season 3.
Music Career
During her acting years, Hilary recorded several songs for soundtracks. She provided What Dreams Are Made Of and Why Not for The Lizzie McGuire Movie soundtrack. Furthermore, she recorded Our Lips Are Sealed and Crash World for A Cinderella Story. Two singles from her self-titled album, Fly and Someone’s Watching Over Me were included in Raise Your Voice.
In 2003, she released her best-selling album, Metamorphosis. The record topped the Billboard 200 and spawned two of Hilary’s most acclaimed singles, So Yesterday and Come Clean. Additionally, the album received numerous awards and nominations. In 2005, the teen idol released a compilation album, titled Most Wanted, including the popular single Wake Up. Finally, the 2007 album Dignity, marked a departure from the Disney-period and introduced a more mature and sensual Hilary Duff.
