Hey Violet is an American pop punk group/band from California.
Cherri Bomb
Originally named Cherri Bomb, the group was initially all female. The band consisted of Julia Pierce (lead guitarist and vocalist), Nia Lovelis (drums, vocals), Miranda Miller (rhythm guitar, keyboard, vocals) and Rena Lovelis (lead vocals). Along with the release of their debut EP Stark, the girls opened for rock bands like the Foo Fighters, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Bush among others. Following their presence and performance at various festivals, they released their first album This Is the End of Control in 2012. The project entered Billboard’sTop Hard Rock Albums at spot 24. The next year, however, the lead vocalist, Julia Pierce, left the group.
Hey Violet
Serving as the only male member, Casey Moreta was asked to join the band as lead guitar and vocalist in 2013. The name of the group was officially changed to Hey Violet in 2015. I Can Feel It extended play was released the same year under Hi or Hey Records’ new management. Hey Violet was the opening act for 5 Seconds of Summer and then went on their own tour. In 2016 Iain Shipp was made a member as the bassist. The group released the second EP Brand New Moves, continuing to tour and perform their music. A studio album is expected this year.
