Hailee Steinfeld Biography

Hailee Steinfeld is an American actress, singer, and model. She was first known for her role in True Grit (2010), which got her several nominations, including one for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her most recent role in The Edge of Seventeen. Furthermore, Hailee received recognition for her singing in Pitch Perfect 2 and therefore began exploring the music industry as well.

Her Music

Hailee’s music career began after her releasing a cover version of Flashlight, the song which she performed in Pitch Perfect 2. Soon after, the young artist signed with Republic Records. Her very first single was a huge success, hence it has been certified Platinum. In 2015 she released an extended play titled Haiz. The critics were not that kind, however, stating that although it’s “fun” and “empowering”, it “lacks personality”. Even so, the lead single, Love Myself, reached good spots in several international charts.

The following year, Hailee released hit song Starving, featuring duo artists, Grey and German DJ, Zedd. The song jumped to number 12 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The critics describe it as a “dreamy, teen romance anthem.” The music video, created by famous artist Darren Craig, shows Hailee dancing with four men. Hailee also stars in Taylor Swift‘s video for Bad Blood, in the role of The Trinity.

Her Movies

Hailee was born in Los Angeles, California. She began acting at the age of eight and appeared in numerous short films, commercials and TV series. Her career had taken its first upsurge in 2010 due to her role in highly acclaimed Coen movie, True Grit. The actress was only thirteen at that time. Time Magazine said her performance “wins hearts”. After that, she was chosen as the face of Italian brand Miu Miu. In 2013 she played the lead role in a new adaptation of Romeo & Juliet and a supporting role in the movie adaptation of Ender’s Game.

The next massive opportunity for her was Pitch Perfect 2, in 2015. She also stars as the main character in Barely Lethal – an action movie also including Sophie Turner, Jessica Alba, and Samuel L. Jackson. Her latest movie, The Edge of Seventeen (2016),  a coming of age comedy-drama, only helped her gain more appreciation among both fans and critics. Hailee is currently filming for Pitch Perfect 3.
