Fozzy Biography

Fozzy is an Atlanta-based heavy metal band, formed in 1999 by lead singer and WWE superstar Chris Jericho and guitarist Rich Ward. The band’s style was described by lead singer Chris Jericho as a fusion between bands Metallica and Journey. The name, Fozzy, is a play on the name of the singer Ozzy Osbourne. The group released six studio albums and is currently working on a seventh one, due for 2017.

Early Years & Breakthrough

Forry started as an underground cover band, until Chris Jericho’s addition in 2000, under the nickname of Moongoose. During the first two years, the group continued to make covers, releasing two albums. Their recordings included songs by Dio, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath and others. Finally, in 2005 they released their first album entirely formed of original songs, All That Remains. It spawned the hit single Enemy, which became the theme song for WWE No Way Out.

Success & Recent Years

Their success was followed by the 2010 album, Chasing the Grail. Its lead single, Marty No More, became a theme song for the WWE Royal Rumble pay per view. In 2012, the group entered the Billboard 200 for the first time, with Sin and Bones peaking at number 143. The record generated one single, Sandpaper, featuring Avenged Sevenfold’s M. Shadows. In 2014, Fozzy’s most successful single, Lights Go Out, preceded the band’s sixth album, Do You Wanna Start a WarThe song peaked at number 29 in the US, while the album reached 54. Most recently, the group released the single Judas,  in May 2917.
