Faith Evans Biography

Faith Renée Evans is an American singer, songwriter and producer. Additionally, she also worked as an actress and author. In 1994 she became the first woman to sign with P Diddy’s Bad Boy Entertainment. Furthermore, she married The Notorious B.I.G. After his tragic demise, she and Diddy won a Grammy Award for their hit tribute I’ll Be Missing You. Faith has released 6 successful studio albums to date, three of which received platinum certifications.

Early Life 

Faith Evans was born in 1973, in Lakeland, Florida. Her childhood was quite eventful. When Faith was 19 she had to move with a foster family, until her single mother, a musician, could gain money to support them. Evans grew in a Christian home and developed a passion for music through the gospel and the church choir. Moreover, she listened to jazz music and began attending and performing at festivals. In 1991 she graduated high school and moved to NY to study marketing. However, she interrupted college and, in 1993 she moved to LA to pursue a music career. Shortly, she met Puff Daddy who signed her to his label.

Studio Albums

In early 1995, Faith collaborated with Mary J. Blige and Usher. Furthermore, she released her self-titled debut album. The record scored a platinum certification and reached number 22 on the Billboard 2. After Biggie’s death, she topped the Billboard Hot 100, with 1997’s single I’ll Be Missing You. Next up, she featured on Whitney Houston’s Heartbreak Hotel, which peaked at number 2. Her next album, Keep the Faith, came out two years later and also went platinum. Additionally, it spawned two top 10 singles, Love Like This and All Night Long. In 2001, Faith Evans released another platinum album, Faithfully. The singer’s best-charted album came out through Capitol Records, four years later, titled The First Lady. Her next two records, Something About Faith (2010) and Incomparable (2014) failed to receive the same critical acclaim and commercial success.
