Disturbed Biography

Distrubed is an American metal band formed in 1994. They released 6 studio albums, five of which topped the Billboard 200. Disturbed produced timeless singles such as Stupify, Down with the Sickness and, more recent, The Sound of Silence.

Early Years – The Sickness

Before the vocalist David Draiman joined in 1997, the band had suffered two name changes, from Crawl to Brawl, to finally, Disturbed. The singer came from a conservative family and thus, poured all the anger accumulated into the raw and violent sound of Disturbed. The group put together a demo tape, which caught the eye of Giant Record. Therefore, in the spring of 2000, the metal band released its first album, The Sickness. It was a commercial success and it built up a huge fanbase. Moreover, it spawned iconic singles like Stupidy, Down with the Sickness and Voices.

Believe  Ten Thousand Fists

In 2002, Disturbed topped the Billboard 200 for the first time with their second album, Believe. It featured religious and spiritual themes. The songs were inspired by tragedies such as the September 11 attacks. Additionally, the band recorded a song for the soundtrack of the vampire movie Queen of the Damned (2002). One year later, Disturbed, released their third album, Ten Thousand Fists. The album also debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200. Most noteworthy, it spawned the single Stricken, which was featured in the Guitar Hero game series.

Indestructible  Asylum – Immortalized

The band’s fourth album, Indestructible, did not fall short. It was overall darker than the previous albums and more personal. The title track Indestructible was written mainly as an anthem for soldiers. Additionally, the album spawned two more iconic singles, Inside the Fire and The Night. In the summer of 2010, Disturbed released their fifth album, Asylum. The sound was even heavier and the lyrics even more sombre. The first single, Another Way to Die, talked about global warming, while The Animal depicted lycanthropy.

After a long hiatus, the metal band reconnected and released Immortalized (2015), preceded by the single The Vengeful One. Even though it received mixed reviews, the album generated an even more successful song than Down with the Sickness –The Sound of Silence. Furthermore, the band announced a seventh album, which will come out in 2018.
