Dierks Bentley Biography

Frederick Dierks Bentley is an American country artist from Arizona. Since his breakthrough in 2003, he released eight studio albums. The first two received Platinum certifications. 25 of is singles reached the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts.

Early Life & Career Beginnings

Bentley moved to Nashville to study at the Vanderbilt University. After graduation, he remained there and worked at a local television post, where he had to research old footage of country music. During that period he composed songs for an independent CD, which he titled Don’t Leave Me in Love. In 2003, he signed with Capitol Records and gained instant success.

Breakthrough & Success

 

He released his self-titled debut album, which spawned 3 successful singles. Most noteworthy, What Was I Thinkin’, topped the Billboard Hot Country Songs. My Last Name and How Am I Doin’ also reached the country music chart. The album sold 1.1 million copies in the US, thus gaining a first Platinum certification for Dierks Bentley.

Following up on that success, Bentley released a second album, Modern Day Drifter, in 2005. It did not fall short, generating two number one hits Settle for a Slowdown and Come a Little Closer. Additionally, it sold even better than the first, reaching 1.5 million copies. Also in 2005, Bentley won the Best New Artist award at the CMA Awards. Furthermore, was one of the youngest artists to join Grand Ole Opry.

Bentley’s latest album, Black was released in 2016. The first single, Somewhere on a Beach, marked the artist’s 9th top 40 hit.
